Google is investing in Canadian businesses by creating gybo.ca and by paying for your .ca domain registry for 12 months. Yola is providing you with hosting, their leading site building tool, and support.
The domain is registered to you. Yola manages it and provides the tools for editing the DNS records, but the domain registration is yours. The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) prevents us from altering registration information for 60 days after it is claimed. After 60 days, you are welcome to transfer your domain.
Of course! You can sign up for an account and begin building your website today. All the features will be available to you; you can always get your free .ca domain as a second domain and point to your new site. Currently, only Silver package users can point external domains to Yola sites, but we plan to offer that for free to all gybo.ca users very soon. If you prefer, you can also transfer your domain to Yola directly. This requires paying for another year of registration, but it will allow you to manage your domain and your website all from one place.

Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) restrictions on domain registrar reassignments prevent us from being able to transfer domains elsewhere for 60 days after they have been claimed. After that 60 days, you are welcome to transfer the domain away through a 3rd party service. There is no charge from Yola to do this. Our hope is that you find Yola hosting and the Yola Site Builder to provide everything you could need, but we understand it might not be the best fit for everyone.
Your first 12 months are absolutely free. Afterwards, you'll have the option to renew with Yola. Gybo.ca customers can renew at C$29.21 (25% off regular cost) on the Yola domain package which includes your domain, 5GB of hosting space, access to hundreds of styles, our website analytics and all the great features that Yola provides for one year. You can choose to renew in 1, 2, 3 or 5 year increments. Additional discounts apply for multi-year purchases.
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) requires that to have a .ca domain registration, you or your organization resides in Canada. The full set of restrictions is quite complicated, but we found the most effective way to support these restrictions is to ensure that people claiming their free domains had a credit card with a Canadian billing address. This is all this information is being used for right now. We will never auto-renew domains without an explicit request from you.
You are free to come and go as you please. We will not charge you anything to change services. We hope that you will love the ease-of-use and flexibility of the Yola service so much that you will never want to leave. At the end of your free 12 months, if you choose not to renew your domain with Yola, it will be released and can be registered by anyone. Before the end of that year, you can transfer the domain away from Yola for free. Please note that most hosting services will charge you a fee to transfer your domain to them.
Yola's award-winning support team is there to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to send them an email.
